This Jaguar XK-120

This particular XK-120 left the assembly line on March 4, 1954, and was dispatched to the dealer in Canada on June 22, 1954. The Main Distributor for the car is listed on the Heritage Certificate as Budd & Dyer in Montreal.

The original colour was Battleship Gray with a red interior.

This is one of only two XK-120 fixed head coupes (FHC) imported into Canada in 1954.

The car was purchased by its current owner on September 9, 2006.

The car still has its original engine and gearbox. The cylinder head has been replaced, but the original cylinder head is with the car.

By September 2006, a few modifications had been done to the car over the years.

Early in its life, XK-140 style front turn signal indicators had been added to front of the outer wings. Electrical wiring in the engine bay had been encased in flexible clear plastic tubing. Some extra chrome and brass had been added to the engine bay. Grease nipples had been added to the clutch mechanism. A chromed cup had been added to the gearshift knob. Rear tub shocks had replaced the original lever shocks. Trim rings had been added to the wheels. The automatic choke had been replaced with a switch on a plate under the dash.

At a later date, the heater had been replaced with a higher capacity heater with centrifugal blowers mounted in the engine bay.

The cylinder head and piston(s?) had been replaced as the original head shows dents in one cylinder, and one piston came with the car that had been holed.

Front seat leathers had been replaced.

After September 2006, a few items have been upgraded or replaced. The car is not intended to be historically accurate, but has been slightly upgraded in a few strategic areas.

An original style heater replaced the aftermarket upgraded heater. Radial whitewall tyres replaced the originally provided black wall cross-ply. The clock and handbrake have been made to work.

The original dual gauge (temperature portion) did not work, so the original gauge was replaced with an aftermarket gauge, and an aftermarket oil pressure gauge was added below the dash.

The originally provided positive ground radio was removed.

The exhaust system has been replaced with a stainless steel package. This was bought on sale, and the aft section would not fit so the original aft section was retained.

A spin-on oil filter was added to replace the original canister style.

The car remains positive ground.
